Shopping with Mom

Before we went shopping, Mom and I stopped in the woods to take pictures with the snowy forest. It is sooo pretty here when it snows! It looks so clean!

Jan, Mom, Marija, Mihailo, and I all went shopping today in Knez Mihailova. It is a shopping street, with lots of cute shops.
It was really cold!! -8C It wasn't too bad at first, but the WIND made it sooo much worse!

Me posing by the statue!
We stopped to pose next a man on his horse; his name is Knez Mihailo, he was a famous Serbian Warrior. A little tidbit for you: The artist who made this statue forgot to put the hat on this warrior; he was so ashamed that he took his own life. Also when people meet to go shopping they always meet here at the man on the horse. "Ajde da se sretnemo kod konja."  Translation: "Let's meet at the horse."
Marija and Mihailo posing next to the statue!

Mom, Jan and I posing....Marija took the picture! :)

Today we also went into a Serbian shop and bought things for friends and family!

Dinner at the Castle

Well now that my mom is here :) Jagos, Jan and I wanted to go out to eat with her.
So we got ready to head out!

Vicky and Bane come to eat dinner with us at Kalemagdan Castle on the Danube River. Vicky has not seen mom for a while, so it was nice to get us all together again!

The name of the restaurant is called Kalemagdan Terasa which means Kalemagdan Terrace.

After dinner, we stopped to pose next to the Kalemagdan Castle!

It was a great night and the food was out of this world! Oh by the way I had squid and Mom had buffalo. The buffalo and squid was really good; the squid was just a little chewy!

My Surprise!

Today was just an average day! I was helping Marija clean up her room and I was making sure she was vacuuming her room correctly (Cleaning up Chin-Chi's poos - Chin-Chi is the chinchilla), when Alek came upstairs telling me my package finally got here from Maine (my mom was sending me a package from Maine of Christmas cards, little presents, the Moose Hunt pictures on a CD, etc.), so I go down stairs to see. And when I get to the bottom of the stairs I see Mihailo looking over to the left of the hall. I can't see what he is looking at, so I turn and to my surprise....it was my MOM! I started screaming and crying and screaming some more. I didn't know what to do with myself! Finally she said, "you can hug me if you want!" It was such a perfect time for her to come because I was getting a little homesick being away from home on the holidays! Jan and I didn't know anything about it! It was a surprise for the both of us...we got to spend a whole week with my MOM! It was the best surprise I could have asked for...the only thing that would have made it better was if Dad came along too! :)

THANK YOU JAGOS and MOM!

The Vatican

Roma Day 2:
I still can't believe I am in ROME! It is amazing! So Jan and I set out this morning to see the Vatican. We were staying to the right of St. Peter's...so we had to walk all the way around the really tall outer walls of the Vatican. By the way it would normally take us about 10 minutes, but we were worried we wouldn't get in (if you are late there are no refunds), that we BOOKED it and got there in like 5 minutes. We were sweating when we got there! BUT it was sooo worth it!
Guess who the men are in this statue?? One has a sculpturing pick and the other as a paint brush!

Did you know that the Vatican is a city? It is one of the smallest cities in Europe! I found that out on my tour of the Vatican.

This was stolen from Egypt by the Romans...can you see the hieroglyphics?

Amazing Modern Art that is displayed in the middle of one of the courtyards!
This was inside the Vatican itself:
A big toe from a statue!

Guess what is on the top of her dress...and it is not boobs!

Some statues had eyes and they were CREEPY...I like them without eyes!

It was decorated from Floor...

...to Ceiling!!

Look at the detail that is put into these statues and paintings...AMAZING!!
I had to take pictures of all the wonderful things!!

Today was the day of wardrobe malfunctions. I had a stain on my pants this morning, so I had to change before going to the Vatican, when we got back from the Vatican, I went to the bathroom and when I went to button my pants the button popped off. Then I went to change my pants to another pair, and when I was pulling up my undies...and the whole top part ripped. Finally I was able to get into clothes that weren't stained, ripped, or missing buttons.

Aside from the wardrobe malfunctions.....
it was another FABULOUS day in Rome!!

Roma Day 1

The picture I took from our window:

After Jan and I, changed and got all ready, we grabbed a map, a little money, and were off to see if we could find where the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour started.
I AM SOOOO EXCITED TO BE IN ROME!!

We wanted to see all of ROME today, to find specific places we wanted to visit later on! Here is a picture of where we were and were we had to go most of the days.

A little tidbit: If you are planning on going anywhere for travel go to VIATOR online and book a Hop-on Hop-off Bus tour; they are amazing and you get to sit up top and it is not very expensive! You get the see the whole town/area and you get to hop-on and off as many times as you want, within the time frame you wanted. Also Jan and I rode the public buses while we were there and they are only 1 Euro and was fine; now I am speaking for Rome, I don't know about other places.

OKAY back to the trip:
We stopped on the way for some pizza at this tiny little shop, and it was amazing! I had a fresh mozzarella pizza with tomatoes and spinach. It had a garlic sauce instead of spaghetti sauce, which I LOVE!

This was just seconds before Jan and I entered St. Peter's Basilica.

As you can see, our hotel was really close, we just walked about 5 minutes and we were standing in the middle of St. Peter's Basilica. If you want to know more information visit: St. Peter's Basilica - Rome, Italy.
I took pictures of the statues on the tops of the walls because they were amazing!

There is a statue above almost every surrounding column.

I love this clock...it is VERY loud though!

Jan and I had a GRRRRREAT TIME!!

The guards on duty. I love their outfits!
After we walked through St. Peter's Basilica, we then found where the hop-on, hop-off buses were located.
This is where our hop-on hop-off bus started!!

As most of you probably know: I love taking pictures, so I will just let you take a look!

I loved the architecture of the buildings all through Rome! These are a few of my favorite things:

After we got back, we went into a shop, got a little bite to eat and then went back on the bus to see ROME at night!!

Here is my favorite ROMAN STATUE AT NIGHT:

This was an end to a perfect first day in ROME!!
