For the past two days, Jan had invited me into her classroom to see what her students and classroom is like. I really enjoyed myself in her classrooms; she jokes around the the kids and you can tell they really respect her! She is a really good teacher and I can tell she really loves what she does!
During the first day, I watched a movie with the students called The End of the Line, which talks about Yellow Tail Tuna fishing and how it is working it's way towards extinction. Check out this website! It is amazing that the Chinese were lying about the actual amount of fish they were getting. If you have a chance to watch the movie, I would recommend it. It is very interesting; scary, but interesting! I also got to watch students giving their presentations on plastics and how packaging should be more recyclable. They presented their packages of objects you buy in a store; like a Hannah Montana doll. Then they would tell how much waste the company was using and ways the company would be able to package it but using products that can be recycled or less packaging. It was really neat and scary at all the things these middle school students knew about recycling and pollution.
During the second day, I made a sign for Jan. The sign I made said "Scientific Excellence," so she could hang up students work that was done well for all the students to check out. I also started to take down and put up bulletin boards for her, so she had less work to do. I know how it is being a teacher!
It was really fun to go into Jan's classroom and see how she was around her students. Also it was a very new experience being in a middle school classroom as apposed to an elementary classroom. It was a fun experience!
Cute story about Mihailo: I was getting my jacket on, so we could leave for school when Mihailo moved in front of me to get his boots. "Excuse me MOM!" He said as he pushed by. I stopped and didn't say anything; he then looked up at me and says, "Oh...Sara...Why are you dressed like my mom?!" with a serious look on his face! hehe Kids say the darn-dist things!
